All-State 4-by-8 Relay Team from Saline Wins at New Balance Nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The All-State 4-by-800 relay team from Saline High School won the “Emerging Elite” class of the same event at the New Balance Nationals at North Carolina A&T University last weekend.

Abby Rentschler, a recent graduate, joined rising seniors Hannah and Haleigh Cummings, and rising sophomore Jessi Larson on the team, which won the race in 9:19.06, nearly a half-second faster than the team from Montclair, New Jersey. Rising freshman Emma Cummings was 14th in the girls one mile run. She finished the race in 5:24.5.

Sunday, the team of Hannah Cummings, Lily Scheske, Larson and Rentschler placed ninth in the distance medley relay, finishing in 12:17.

The team of Hannah Cummings, Rentschler, Larson and Gillian Walter was 9th in the 4-by-1 mile relay. They finished in 20:52.
