The Lady Hornets keep on rolling to victory.
Saline’s girls’ track and field teams won Friday at the Siena Heights Invitational in Adrian, and then placed a solid third at the River Rat Invitation at Ann Arbor Huron High School.
Saline won the event at Siena Heights University with 240.25 points, almost double the 129 points of second place Grosse Point South.
The Hornets captured seven of 13 indivdual events and one a relay event.
Quenee’ Dale won two events. She won the 100 dash in 12.59 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 16.06 seconds. Amanda Luurtsema was fifth in the 100 dash. Natalie Wysocki was second in the 100 hurdles and Samantha Dicks was fifth in the 100 hurdles.
Thrower Randi Bennett won the shot put with a throw of 38 feet. Erin Connor was second with a throw of 33-04. Bennett was second in discus (119-10). Connor was fifth.
The Hornets other victory in the field was posted by Wendy Szuminski (10 feet). Liz Gentile, Alexandrea Haugen and Lily Scheske finished rounded out the top four.
Sprinter Alexa Ross won the 200 meters in 25.73 seconds. Olivia Roe was fifth.
Elianna Shwayder captured the 3200 meters in 10:57. Giillian Walter, Alyssa Cummings and Hannah Cummings gave Saline a sweep of the top four positions.
Natalie Wysocki posted Saline’s other individual victory, finishing the 300 hurdles in 48.63 seconds. Samantha Dicks was second in 50.25.
The Hornets lone relay victory came in the 4-by-800 relay, where Shwyader, Lauren Green, Hannah Cummings and Abby Rentschler finished first in 9:21. The team of Gloria Park, Alyssa Cummings, Haleigh Cummings and Gillian Water finished third in 9:31.
In other events, Lily Scheske finished fourth in the 400 meters and Oliva Roe was fifth. Emily Reyst was third in the 800. Lauren Sayre was third in high jump. Jackie Marchildon was second in long jump (17 feet).
Bennett Breaks Own Record in Shot Put
At Huron Saturday, Randi Bennett set a new Saline High School girls’ shot put record as Saline was third with 67 points. Oak Park won the event with 91 points.
Randi Bennett was Saline’s only individual winner. She threw 41 feet, 7 ½ inches, breaking her own school record, set of 40-09.5, set May 3 at Saline High School. Erin Connor was fifth in shot put.
Bennett also won the discus (121-09). Connor was second (108-09) and Amelia Wittig was fourth (99-03).
Other highlights came in the 1600, where Kelly Hall was seventh and Lindsay Walter was eighth. Anna Fedoronkow was third in the 3200 (12.)1) and Alussa Scheske was fourth.
Wendy Szuminski was fifth in the 100 hurdles.
Alexandra Haugen was fifth in pole vault. Kyra Ross was seventh in high jump.
The 4-by-800 relay team of Mara Van Sickle, Scheske, Walter and Samantha Rathfon was third (10.17).
