Friday night in front of a Homecoming crowd at Huron, the River Rats learned what it was like to be caught between Saline and its goals. The Hornets played with a ruthless efficiency in their 49-0 victory.
After being limited to just three plays in the first quarter and falling behind 6-0, Saline QB Trent Theisen engineered scoring drives on four straight possessions and the Hornets held on to beat Monroe 28-14 Friday night at Hornet Stadium. Saline and Monroe entered the game with identical records of 4-1 and 2-0 in the SEC Red. The victory paves Saline’s (5-1, 3-0 SEC Red) path to its second SEC Red Championship in three years.
It was billed as a showdown between two SEC Red brawlers. But by fourth quarter of Saline’s 49-17 win over Bedford, you could practically hear the “no más” coming from the Bedford sideline.
