Saline Girls Track Team Starts Season by Placing 3rd at EMU

Distance runners led the Saline varsity girls track and field team to a third place finish at the Huron Relays, held Saturday at Eastern Michigan University. Saline finished with 129 points, just seven points back of Pioneer.

Saline’s distance medley relay teams placed first and fifth. The 4-by-800 team was second. And Jessi Larson was second in the 1600 (5:11). Regan Smith was a strong third (5:22). Becky Cantrell was eighth (5:35).

In the field, Erin Connor won the shot put, reaching 38-05. Victoria Black was 12th with a throw of 29-08.5.

Skyler Hardt (9-00) and Allie Haugen (9-00) went sixth and seventh in pole vault. Lizzie Weeden was 10th, clearing 8-00.

Haugen was Saline’s top long jumper, taking 10th with a leap of 14-03.5.

Lauren Sayre was third in high jump, clearing 5-03. Nia Lancit was eighth, clearing 4-11.
