Hornets Boys Cross Country
The seven Saline runners kept the gaps tight. Just 39 seconds separated the Hornets, who finished with 238 points.
All seven Hornets finished in the top 17 as Saline cruised to its fifth straight regional boys cross country championship Saturday at Lake Erie Metropark.
Saline cruised to its sixth straight SEC Red championship Thursday at Hudson Mills Metropark.
With their “A” on the sideline, the Saline boys’ cross country team finished a solid third at the River Rat Open at Huron Meadows Metropark Friday.
Saline junior Evan Koerschner came from behind in the final 40 yards to edge Bedford’s Brendan McClanahan and win the second SEC Jamboree of the season. Koerschner’s thrilling victory, the first of his varsity career, helped the Hornets to an easy win at Indian Creek in Bedford Tuesday. With the five scoring runners in the top 10, Saline finished with 35 points -- 32 better than second place Monroe. Joining Koerschner (1st, 16:31) in the top 10 were junior Connor Meehan (7th, 16:51), sophomore Anthony DeKraker (8th, 16:52), senior John Giles (9th, 16:52) and senior Bryan Adamovicz (10th, 16:52).
