Construction of the new Linden Square assisted living and memory care center is expected to begin Monday and will impact pedestrian traffic near the corner of Maple Road and Woodland Drive.
DN Higgins construction company will begin installing utilities and a construction driveway that will require removal and replacement of sections of the sidewalk in three areas. Pedestrian traffic on Woodland Drive will be shifted from the south side to the north side for three weeks. Barricades with arrows will be installed by the contractor.
Another section of the sidewalk that will be removed is on Maple Road. After the building pad sand is brought in, a new concrete sidewalk will be installed in three locations.
Last week, city planners gave final site plan approval for the $9 million, 56-unit first phase of the project. Saline Area Schools is selling the land to Reenders.
Linden Square is scheduled for a spring opening. A second phase, basically a mirror image of the first, is planned once the first phase has reached a healthy level of occupancy.
