Rehearsals are well underway for the 2012 Saline Varsity Blues holiday show, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, to be performed December 14 and 15 at Saline Middle School auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. curtain at 7 p.m..
In How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a holiday classic by Dr. Seuss, a grumpy green hermit tries to steal “all the happy” away from the Whos of Whoville as they ready themselves for a grand holiday celebration. Will he succeed? Or will the warmth and heart of the season trump the sour scrooge and his stingy scheme?
The winter show is a smaller, more intimate theatre experience compared to the Varsity Blues annual blockbuster summer performance.
“The winter show is all about giving back to the community,” said VB board of director Shannon Leon. “Unlike the summer show, there are no program advertisements or request for sponsors." Leon is also the costume coordinator, and is excited about the “Whoville” costumes students will create for the show.
Varsity Blues is a non-profit performing show choir located in Saline. It has a Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Kids cast (grades 1-5) who come together twice a year to put on a major musical production under the direction of Patricia Douglas. The Varsity cast will tour in Orlando next summer.
Tickets are set to go on sale Dec. 3 and will be available at Busch’s, Rhythm Dance Crew dance studio, and Saline Community Education. For more information about the show, or the Varsity Blues organization, visit the website at www.salinevarsityblues.com.
