The Saline New Horizons Band, under the direction of Robert L. Albritton, Jr., is presenting its annual spring concert May 22 with the theme “A Trip to New York! New York!”

The free admission concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Saline, 1200 N. Ann Arbor Street, at 3 p.m.

The concert band will play selections representing musical visits to Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Manhattan Beach and points around town.

The Saline New Horizons Band is an adult band of approximately 70 members that is open to musicians of every level of experience without audition, many of whom, but not all, are over 50 years of age.

Some members had played musical instruments many years ago in school and now have taken up them again. Others are brand new to reading and playing music. The main ingredient in the band is love of music and the opportunity to make good music and good friends.

The band meets for full band rehearsals in the Liberty School Band Room, 7265 N. Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Saline on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The concert band performs three to four concerts a year. In addition, there are smaller ensembles that form for enjoyment and performances on a regular basis.
