Two Twelve Arts Center celebrates its 10th anniversary with a show featuring the work of everyone who has ever shown at the center.
The 10-Year Anniversary Retrospective Show is featured in May and June at the arts center, located at 216 W. Michigan Ave. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 6.
Gaines Collins, of Two Twelve Arts Center, said everyone who’s previously shown has been invited to show one work at the retrospective show. Friends of Two Twelve Arts have also been invited to show.
“We will feature the work of many of the artists who have helped to make this a decade full of art and of building a creative community called 212,” Collins aid. “I think it will be a cool way to celebrate all the years we’ve been here.”
Program Director Cindy Barnett said it's been a difficult few weeks for Two Twelve Arts Center Staff since the announcement the center would close Sept. 1. While center will continue running full-steam ahead until then, that knowledge makes this show even more special, she said.
"The center has been more of a family than a business. It's lifted up a lot of people. I don't want to say that this reception is our going away party, but in a way, it is," Barnett said. "We're going to have so many of the artists and names you recognize at the show."
