Snow Makes Saline a Winter Wonderland in Time for Saturday's Festival

Salinians will be running, skating, playing and walking in a winter wonderland Saturday.

The third annual Saline Winterfest, organized by Saline Main Street, takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Saline and at Henne Field.

A couple inches of snow fell Friday, which should add to the festive atmosphere in town.

Two events have been canceled or replaced. Here’s the most recent schedule of events.

Downtown Saline Events

8 to 8:30 a.m. – Registration for the Winterfest 5K at Saline City Hall, 100 N. Harris St. Race day registration is $25.

9 a.m. – Winterfest 5K benefiting Saline Middle School Cross Country and the Mike Smith Scholarship Fund.  Stats and finishes at Saline City Hall, 100 N. Harris St.

9 4 p.m. -- Sleigh rides between downtown Saline and Henne Field.

9 to 11 a.m. – Ice Carving Demonstrations at Bank of Ann Arbor, Bills Barber Shop, Brecon Grille, Hartman Insurance, Oxygen Plus and Saline Optometry.

9:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Kids games and crafts at 108 E. Michigan Ave. (Former Spotted Dog location)

Noon to 1:30 p.m. – Euchre Tournament at 108 E. Michigan (Former Spotted Dog location).

Henne Field Events

8 a.m.  – Skating on the Community Ice Rink

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  – Massachusetts Provincial Battalion Winter Encampment

Noon to 4 p.m.  – Saline Area Fire Department selling chili. Proceeds benefit Andrew Bonczyk’s Eagle Scout project, which would replace the community sign in front of the fire hall.

1 to 3 p.m. – Dodge ball tournament.

2 to 3 p.m. – Snowman Decorating Contest
