Fresh from a summer-long tour of Europe, Bloodshot Records recording artist Luke Winslow-King returns to Saline on Sunday, August 13 for a night of Mississippi delta blues, folk music, traditional jazz, and roots rock & roll at Stony Lake Brewing starting at 7:30 p.m.
“Luke is a great supporter of live and local music,” said Jim Cain, the founder of Acoustic Routes Concerts, who is producing the show. “This will be Luke’s fifth gig in Saline since we started Acoustic Routes in 2013, and he keeps coming back after major tours to work out new tunes and try new spins on old songs because the audiences here really get into the music. This year, he’ll be performing solo, so the night will be really personal and intimate.”
A native of Cadillac, Mich. but now based in New Orleans Winslow-King’s has been widely hailed for his singing, songwriting and slide guitar work. The New York Times describes his music as, “a boiled-down live, almost improvised sound” and Offbeat Magazine said, “Like all good troubadours, Winslow-King balances that blatant power with the sexy, sweet come-on lilt.”
Here are two cuts from his newest CD:
The cover charge is $15 at the door, with all proceeds going to the artist. Stony Lake Brewing is located at 447 E. Michigan Ave.
