Join in the Fun at the Saline Community Fair

Thursday, August 31 is Children’s Day. There will be special activities from 9 a.m. to noon. These include Touch a Truck, Hand and Hand Music, Twist and Shout the Clown, Art Tables, Farm Related Games and Activities, Washtenaw County Farm Bureau Ag Activities, Make Your Own Ice Cream, and Animals. There will also be preschool/toddler ride specials from noon to 3 p.m., and all rides will open at noon.  The Lawnmower Obstacle Course Contest, open to all youth age 10 – 18, begins at 3 p.m. The tractor and wagon is provided for this contest. Farmer John and his interactive live animals will be doing three shows at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Stick horse races will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Barn F. Rounding out the activities on Thursday are the Jr. Livestock Auction at 7 p.m. and the Super Kicker Rodeo, also beginning at 7 p.m. in front of the grandstand. The Beer Barn will also be open Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Friday is Senior’s Day and Ladies’ Day at the Saline Community Fair, but there are activities for all ages happening throughout the day and evening. All activities are held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor.  

There are special admission prices for senior citizens who are free until 1 p.m. and everyone else age 11 and older are $5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The day starts off with a Euchre tournament at 9:00 a.m., a Draft Horse Pull at 10 a.m. and a Princess and Super Heroes Party from 10 a.m. to noon. The Ladies’ Day program and Recognition of Senior Citizens begins at 1 p.m.  All rides will open at 2 p.m. Farmer John and his interactive live animals will again be doing three shows at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Stick horse races will again take place at 5:30 p.m. in Barn F and the Pie Contest auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the covered arena. The 2017 Saline’s Got Talent Contest begins at 7 p.m. and will feature 14 talent acts and a guest singer. The grandstand show on Friday evening at 7 p.m. is the Diesel 4x4 Truck Pull, along with the gas truck pull. Don’t miss the fun and excitement as the trucks go roaring down the track. The Beer Barn will also be open Friday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight. 

There are many other activities taking place throughout the week. In addition to exhibits, inside and outside displays and animals, the Adventures in Agriculture barn will be open all week and the Farmer for a Day activity area will provide fun for kids. Many antique tractors are also on display. Area businesses have displays throughout the fairgrounds and there are a variety of food booths. Elliott’s Amusements will provide the carnival rides throughout the week.
