Do you want to transform yard debris and kitchen scraps into a nutrient-rich, natural soil amendment? Identify your own soil profile? Learn hot composting techniques? Create low-maintenance, low-waste yards? Tour large- and small-scale compost operations? Know how to compost with red worms? Make compost teas? Use cover crops, green manures and living mulch? These topics--and more--are offered by a range of presenters. Michigan Master Composter certification is available for students who pass the take-home exam and complete at least 10 volunteer hours in the community. Students may fulfill some or all of these hours by participating in the optional Saturday Composting Practicum.

The Washtenaw County Master Composter Class  will begin on Wednesday, September 25. This workshop will run for 7 consecutive weeks, ending on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. All but one class will be held at Pioneer High School, in the Adult Education Conference Room. Each class is held from 6-8:30 pm. Please find the attached Master Composter Workshop flyer. The workshop is $59 and comes with a Master Composter Manual. We hope that you will share this workshop announcement with your list serves and all of your contacts, so we can get the word out.
