Saline Community Fair Fun Continues

Great weather for going to a fair is expected to continue so make plans now to join in the fair fun. Friday, September 1 is Senior’s Day and Ladies’ Day at the Saline Community Fair and it features special admission prices for senior citizens who are free until 1 p.m. and everyone else age 11 and older who are $5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The day starts off with a Euchre tournament at 9:00 a.m., a Draft Horse Pull at 10 a.m. and a Princess and Super Heroes Party from 10 a.m. to noon. The Ladies’ Day program and Recognition of Senior Citizens begins at 1 p.m.  All rides will open at 2 p.m. Farmer John and his interactive live animals will again be doing three shows at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Stick horse races will again take place at 5:30 p.m. and the Pie Contest auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. The 2017 Saline’s Got Talent Contest begins at 7 p.m. and will feature 14 talent acts and it a guest singer. The grandstand show on Friday evening at 7 p.m. will feature the Diesel 4x4 Truck Pull, along with the gas truck pull. The Beer Barn will also be open Friday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight. Be sure to ask for a copy of Friday’s schedule as you come through the gate at the fair.

Saturday, September 2 is Heroes’ Day with Military, Law Enforcement and Firefighters admitted free with credentials. The Heroes’ Day program begins at 11 a.m. and will include a light lunch and entertainment. A Pedal Pull for both youth and adults will be held at 2 p.m. and the Antique Tractor Pull and Farm Stock Tractor Pull starts off the grandstand events at 9 a.m. The evening grandstand show is the Super Stock and Modified Tractor Pull which begins at 7 p.m.  At the other end of the fairgrounds under the open pavilion, the fantastic group, Three Men and A Tenor will perform at 8 p.m.  You will not want to miss the entertainment.  All rides will open at 1 p.m. Farmer John and his interactive live animals will be doing three shows at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Stick horse races will take place in Barn F at 5:30 p.m. The Beer Barn will also be open Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight.  Another full day of family fun.

There are many other activities taking place throughout the week. In addition to exhibits, inside and outside displays and animals, the Adventures in Agriculture barn will be open all week and the Farmer for a Day activity area will provide fun for kids. Area businesses have displays throughout the fairgrounds and there are a variety of great food booths. Elliott’s Amusements will provide the carnival rides throughout the week.

Fifteen bikes will be given away to lucky winners in the Saline Community Fair bicycle giveaway. Entry forms can be deposited throughout fair week into corresponding containers located with the bikes in Building C on the fairgrounds. The forms are on the website and available at local sponsors and at the fair. Many thanks to the businesses and individuals who have donated these bikes.  The drawings will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. and winners do not need to be present. While in Building C be sure to check out the many vendors and information booths in the Merchant’s Building as well as those outside the building.
