The Call for Artists for the next round of selections for "Art Around Saline" is now open. The deadline for submissions is March 15.
Inspired by the Detroit Institute of Art’s “Inside Out” program, the goals of Art Around Saline are to highlight the work of local artists, increase and enhance pride in our city, and promote its growing art culture. Selected works are reprinted, framed, and exhibited in public spaces in downtown Saline. First started in Spring of 2017, Art Around Saline features reproductions of original artworks by area artists, installed on building exteriors throughout downtown. In the last two years, works have been viewable on Brecon Grille, Mac’s Acadian, Pineapple House, Benny’s Bakery, Hensel Kenpo Karate, McPherson’s Local, The News Art & Antiques, and the Grossman Building, and sites around Murphy’s Crossing.
This April 2019, the Saline Arts and Culture Committee present works for selection to local jurors to be produced over the summer and installed by early autumn. There are currently more than 10 pieces displayed near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Ann Arbor-Saline Roads in historic downtown Saline.
Collections in the "Art Around Saline " project include reproductions of original art by Washtenaw area artists framed and installed for exterior, public display in historic downtown Saline, Michigan. Juried, selected works will be on display downtown for at least one year, after which they may be removed or displayed elsewhere within the City of Saline, MI, at the discretion of the Art Around Saline project partners. Artists' works selected during the 2019 juried review for Art Around Saline 2019 will be awarded a honoraria of $300.
This is the 3rd round of selection for "Art Around Saline " pieces.
