Special guest appearance by Sarah Shoemaker, the author of Mr. Rochester! Sarah will join us for a discussion of the novel, answer questions, and discuss her writing process.
Since the publication of Jane Eyre in 1847, Edward Fairfax Rochester has stood as one of the most complex and intriguing heroes in literature. This novel takes readers from Rochester's lonely childhood in Thornfield Hall to the exotic shores of Jamaica, where he meets the beautiful and unstable Bertha Mason, back to England, and the events that led him to a moonlit meeting with the headstrong young governess who teaches him to love again. At once a sweeping coming-of-age story and a tale of adventure, romance and shocking trickery, the novel stays true to the voice of Jane Eyre, and gives readers a look at the man who has so fascinated readers for 170 years.
All are invited for friendly, informal book discussions and refreshments on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Extra books are available in advance at the adult reference desk.
