Burns passed away on February 19, 2016 in his home in Saline after a two-year battle with Mesothelioma. He is survived by his wife Joy Burns, four sons, three daughters-in-law, three siblings and his parents. Burns was an avid bicyclist and was frequently spotted riding through town. He completed 3 major bike trips in his life, traveling 350 miles from Hell to Paradise (MI), 500 miles from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan, and 800 miles across MI, WI and the UP. We ride to celebrate his love for the sport and the passion he shared with many friends.

Burns’ four sons participated in Saline Destination Imagination (DI) for a collective 12 years. Burns’ wife coached and mentored their teams and he designed t-shirts for Saline teams for 11 years. He also had a passion for the mission at the HOPE clinic and supported them for many years. For more information on the two funds, please visit
