The 4th annual RunTough for ChadTough event will take place Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Saline High School from 8:30-11:00 am. The local, family-friendly event will include a 1-mile fun run and 5K race for both children and adults, and the foundation will once again offer a “virtual race” option for anyone who isn’t local or has scheduling conflicts.  To honor Chad's 5 years on this earth, all children 5 & under can participate for $5.

All proceeds from the event will support The ChadTough Foundation, which raises research dollars and awareness for pediatric brain cancer with an emphasis on Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

This will be the second RunTough event without Chad Carr, who lost his battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) on November 23, 2015. The event will once again act as a celebration of Chad’s September 26 birthday. This year he would have been seven years old.

“One of the worst things about losing a child is the fear that they will be forgotten,” said Tammi Carr. “Celebrating Chad each year around his birthday is a way to keep his spirit alive and bring us peace that he is still inspiring others to make a difference.”

Last year’s event raised more than $270,000 for pediatric brain cancer research with more than 1,800 total registrants. The ChadTough Foundation is hoping to see that number grow to more than 2,000 registrants in 2017 and to have at least one virtual runner in every state.

“We were blown away by last year’s event,” said Jason Carr. “Not only was it incredible here in Saline, but we had more than 500 people running across the country and around the world for ChadTough. It was a humbling experience and we’re looking forward to doing it again.”

Fundraising for this year’s event will take place on Crowdrise, the No. 1 fundraising site for charitable causes. Participants can register on the Crowdrise site ( to help the ChadTough Foundation reach its $50,000 fundraising goal for 2017!
