The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic are touring along America's famous Route 66 until July 9.
Last night, Saline's famed youth band performed in Pontiac, Ill. Their tour ends July 9 with a gig at the farmers market in Santa Monica, Calif.
But before they went, they braved the rain and gave their hometown something to cheer about.
Thursday night on North Ann Arbor Street, the fiddlers played the Saline Summer Music Series. The show was delayed nearly an hour when a storm blew through town. But once the storm passed and the stage was toweled off, the kids were ready to play. They delighted the audience with traditional fare, like Buffalo Gals and Orange Blossom. Other songs, like Route 66, were newer to the fiddlers - but known to many.
The Saline Summer Music Series continues Thursday night with a performance by Appleseed Collective, which plays new bluegrass music.
The show begins at 7 p.m.
The free show is organized by Saline Main Street.
