Senior Elianna Shwayder was the fastest Hornet, finishing eighth in 18:12

The Hornets boys' cross country team showed it can run with the best teams in the state.

After two wins at home, the Saline varsity football team (3-0) took the show on the road put forth their best effort yet in the 2013 season, defeating host Chelsea 37-0.

Griffin Wooley ran for three touchdowns and Trent Theisen threw touchdown passes to Brad McCormick and Nader El-Awar. Chris Slattery's tackle in the end zone in the final minute put an exclamation mark on the victory.

It's the great Friday the 13th power outage of 2013 in downtown Saline.

OK, not really.

Some businesses have closed and others remain open during a power outage today on the northeast block of Downtown Saline.

The outage occurred shortly after 11 a.m. A DTE spokesman said there is no information about the cause of the information. A crew has been dispatched to Saline to investigate in begin repairs.

Haley Williams, a 2011 Saline High School Grad crowned Miss Michigan earlier this year, is competing at the Miss America Pageant this week in Atlantic City.

The East Michigan Camaro Club donated $5,000 to the Michigan Lupus Foundation Thursday at Crispin Chevrolet.

With a big race Friday, Saline held back during Thursday's SEC Jamboree. Saline Hasn't lost a league jamboree in 18 years.

Emily White shot a four-under-par 67 and Samantha Kellstrom and Stacy Cruze made the all-tournament team as the Hornets broke their 18-hole team record by three strokes.

Thursday, 2013 Sep 12th

With Saline's top runners resting for Friday's Spartant Invitational, the Hornet boys' cross country team took second place in the first SEC Red Jamboree at Pioneer High School Thursday.

Pioneer won the event with 32 points. Saline finished with 60 points.

Saline's fastest runner was fresman Evan Koerschner, who finished in 17:24 – good for 12th among runners from both the SEC Red and SEC White.

Saline's won every match in singles and doubles action at home to Bedford Wednesday.
