Carolyn "Lino" Annette Myers (nee Sutton), 45 yrs old, passed away May 12, 2013 of cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Verne; her sisters, Theresa Sutton, Mary Breijak (Sutton), and Patty Sutton; her brother, Peter Sutton; her nieces, Amy Breijak and Mia Sutton; and her nephews, Duane Breijak and Alex Breijak. Carolyn (Lino) was born and grew up in East Tawas, Michigan.

She was the beloved youngest daughter of Raymond L. Sutton, M.D. and Phyllis Natiw Sutton, and the sister of Christine Burns (Sutton), who predeceased her.

Several vehicles were broken into near Pleasant Ridge Drive May 9-10.

Sunday, May 19th from 11am – 2pm the Parks Commission is hosting a Garlic Mustard Pull at Colony Park. Colony Park is in the Northview subdivision on Colony Drive between Woodland Drive and Waterworks Road. Bring gloves. All other equipment... will be provided. Hotdogs will be served to all the volunteers!
Background
Garlic mustard was first recorded in the United States around 1868, from Long Island, New York, and was likely introduced by settlers for food and medicinal purposes.

A solution to the inequity of club sports vs. varsity sports remains in the works.

Tuesday, 2013 May 14th

Youth lacrosse players in grades 5-8 are invited to join the Saline High School boy's lacrosse teams Thursday for Young Hornet Lacrosse Night.

The Hornets' boys' lacrosse teams conclude their regular season home schedule against Troy Athens. Students who wear their jerseys will gain free admission. They will also stand next to the varsity team during the national athem and can be a "ball boy" during the game. 

Prizes will be awarded at halftime and there will be prizes given away each quarter.

Heritage Media reporter Jim Pruitt announced that Tuesday night was his final day on the Saline beat.

During public comment the end of Tuesday's Saline Area Schools board meeting, Pruitt announced he was leaving his post because he'd been promoted to editor of the Ypsilanti newspaper, also in the chain.

He replaces Krista Gjestland, who leaves her post as editor of the Ypsilanti Courier and Manchester Enterprise to handle events and public relations for Corner Brewery.

The students were honored for achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average over their middle school years at Saline Middle School.

Pittsfield Township firefighters were able to save the cargo trailer.

Kayla Kouba scored three goals to lead Saline to an 8-0 win against Tecumseh in varsity soccer at Saline Monday.

Keeper Sophia Sweier recorded the shutout.

Also scoring for Saline were Meghan Ulrich, Anna Iraola, Amanda Zylstra, Abbey Sovitch and Courtney Funk also scored.

Saline is 6-0-1 in the SEC Red.

Monday, 2013 May 13th

A package of four bills and three resolutions would improve access to women's health care, educate women about health care options, support rape survivors and address health care inequities women face.

The Saline Hornet rowers carried their winning momentum to Ohio.

Jacob Douglas hopes to earn the Eagle Scout rank with his plan to build an informational kiosk at Curtiss Park.

 

Ford Motor Company will donate close to $6,000 to the Saline Music Parents after a successful fundraiser co-sponsored by Briarwood Ford Saturday.

About 30 minutes before the Drive4Ur School fundraiser wrapped up at Harvest Elementary, about 240 people had taken a Briarwood Ford vehicle for a test drive.  Ford Motor Company offered $20 for every test drive during the eight hour event. And as the event wound down, organizers were very close to the 300 test drivers they needed to max out the donation.
