Hornets love to golf at Eagle Crest Golf Club. In 2010 the Saline girls won a state championship at the course. The boys won there in 2006.
The winning ways continued Wednesday as Saline's girls team defeated the Huron River Rats 182-221.
Emily While shot a 42 for the match medal. She finished strong, shooting birdies on two of her final three holes.

Edna C.Laughrey, age 71, a resident of Brecon Village, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at the University of Michigan Hospital.

For nine years, pirate language enthusiasts have been uniting world-wide on Sept. 19 to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
While some people may question the need for such a day, the organizers behind this day have answered “Why not? Talking like a pirate is fun. It’s really that simple.” Activities for this day range from addressing friends as “me hearties!” to sing-a-longs and costume parties.
It’s never a party without some traditional German music! Shaking the stage will be none other than Da Frankenmuda Fratz’n. Since 1994, Da Frankenmuda Fratz’n has been regarded as the premier German traditionalist band in Michigan! They will bring the party and ensure that it doesn’t stop until you guzzle down the last drop of your favorite beer from the Bier Garten!

The man behind a plan to build a 102-unit condo development on Monroe Street told city council that he can't move forward with the project until the EPA forces prior owners to live up to cleanup orders.

Mulling over a request to support a county-wide transport and participate in a regional transportation authority that will bring with it a tax on residents, Saline City Council heard a presentation on what the plan might mean for local residents.
At Monday’s meeting, Ann Arbor Transpiration Authority representative Sarah Pressprich Gryniewicz highlighted what the plan offers Saline, if it is implemented over the next five years.

Rising fees haven't hurt participation at Saline High School, and board members wonder what that means for the future of funding school athletics.

North Farmington pushed the Hornets to the limit, but Saline was victorious.
Despite having three girls under 19 minutes, Saline placed second once again to last year's state champs from Grosse Pointe South.
The Saline boys’ cross country team finished second in one of the largest races of the year – The Spartan Invitational at East Lansing.
Saline tied top ranked Waterford Mott for first with a score of 191 after the first five runners. Waterford Mott won on the tie-breaker – their sixth fastest runner edged Saline’s sixth fastest runner.
Saline coach Carl Spina said it was a tough loss, considering how well the team ran. But it’s a loss they can learn from.
Close to 5,000 people were in attendance at Hornet Stadium for Friday night's varsity football game between Saline and Ann Arbor Pioneer.

Still, with a lot of buzz surround the new and improved Hornets, and a traditional rival in town, Hornet Stadium was as loud as ever.

Bargain hunters, Saline has an event for you on Saturday.
The second installment of the "Saline Resale Circuit" takes place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15 at four resale shops in Saline. Participating are the Saline Community Thrift Store, 789 W. Michigan Ave., The Resale Boutique, 107 E. Michigan Ave., Reincarnations Resale, 109 E. Michigan, and Nu2U, 1311 E. Michigan Ave.
Saline's swimmers and divers took the top 3 spots or more in every individual event.
Emily White shot a 39 and Louisa Antonelli shot a career-best 40.
The Hornets haven't given up a goal in four games.
