Marlene Schroeder, 85, Worked as a Saline School Bus Driver for 30 Years

Marlene Elizabeth Schroeder, age 85, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2019. She married Raymond A. Schroeder on April 5, 1952; he preceded her in death on April 4, 1992.

Born on July 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Harry and Irene Hersch, Marlene moved to Saline, MI at 12 years of age. Though she lived in Melbourne, FL for the last 4 years, she fondly remembered Saline as ‘home’. Marlene was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and a Saline Schools bus driver for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, volunteering for Arbor Hospice of Ann Arbor, ceramics with friends and weekly Euchre card games.

Marlene is loving remembered by her six children: Raymond ‘Scott’. (Dawn) of Jackson, MI; Mary (Bill) Chenco of Phoenixville, PA; Richard (Betty) of Waseca, MN; Karen (Jim) Chase of Ojai, CA; Steven (Tammy) of Newbury Park, CA and Rex of Adrian, MI. Fourteen grandchildren: Brandon Schroeder, Lindsey (Brian) Weeks, Jessica Chenco, Kathryn (Aaron) Kohler and Dustin (Lauren) Chenco, Rebecca (Alex) Hunt-Branch, Wendy (Rick) Spade, Jon (Amanda) Partain, Kayla Chase, Shelby Chase, Ashley Schroeder, Chelsea Schroeder, Matthew Schroeder, and Joshua (Briana) Schroeder. Twelve great grandchildren and one sister, Judy (Ralph) Mariani of Melbourne, FL. Many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Schroeder and a sister Ardala Erskine.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 122 W. Michigan Ave., Saline, MI 48176 on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors prior to the funeral beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
