Sharon Katherine Meier, 79 of Ann Arbor/Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018 with her family by her side.
Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 18, 1939 to parents Vincent and Katherine Meier.
Sharon is survived by her five children, Andrea Abbas of Ann Arbor, Gregory Abbas of Saline, Lisa Holobaugh and Sharon’s grandchild Cameron Holobaugh of Lake Orion, Jeffrey Kurz of Lexington, KY, and Michael Kurz of Holly.
Sharon was an avid reader, caring mother for her five children, and worked most of her adult life. Sharon grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI and helped her family with their masonry business, Meier Cut Stone, until she explored college. Sharon ultimately met her first husband, at that time, Fred Kurz, and started a family as a stay at home mom for her children, Jeffrey, Michael, and Lisa. Sharon then met her second husband, Mohammed Abbas, and had two children, Gregory and Andrea.
In addition to her role as mother for her five children, Sharon worked most of her adult life in real estate and automotive sales. In Ann Arbor Sharon worked for LaFontaine Auto on Washtenaw, and Briarwood Ford on Michigan Ave. in Saline. Sharon then moved into an administrative role with east quad dining services at U of M, from which she retired. Sharon loved the outdoors. She and her family would spend summers fishing, boating, barbequing, and celebrating life together. Sharon loved to travel. Sharon also had a passion for Archaeology and History.
Sharon loved dogs and is survived by her close companion, “Tootsie”. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Jim and Bob Meier. Friends are invited to celebrate Sharon’s life with her family on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. with a memorial service being held at 12:00 P.M. atRobison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.
