July 28 was a busy day for Saline firefighters.

The Saline Area Fire Department responded to the third structure fire in less than 24 hours shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday. There were no injuries the fire on the 800 block of Willis Road in York Township.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Charles Schaible, the electrical connection of an air conditioner behind the house caught fire.

"It got into the vinyl siding and caused some damage but the fire was out by the time we arrived," Schaible said.

Schaible said a neighbor spotted the flames and ran over to the house and pounded on the door to alert residents inside.

Firefighters also responded to a kitchen fire on Valley Circle Drive at Six Trails Apartments. Earlier Thursday morning a fire forced 18 people, including six children, from their homes at Thorncrest Apartments.
