Saline Police are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects who ran from police early Monday morning.
Police happened on two young men wearing backpacks on Harris Street near the police station around 6:30 a.m.. When the officer called the men to his vehicle, they fled. One ran through Henne Field and the other through backyards.
They were described as white males who are 18-20 years old. One wore a red coat and white hat. Another wore a black jacket with a black cap. One of the suspects has a pierced tongue and gouges in his ears.
A Saline resident who may have noticed the activity told police one of the suspects may have entered a black car, perhaps a Dodge Charger, with a chrome gas cap. The vehicle was last seen near Mills Road and Hollywood Drive.
According to Saline Police Chief Jerrod Hart the suspects may be responsible for a series of petty larcenies from vehicles.
Two more larcenies were recorded July 27-28, one on the 100 block of Sheffield and the other on the 200 block of Clark Street. Previous larcenies from vehicles were reported on Clark Street and Six Trails Apartments.
“These subjects may be responsible for the recent activity. Today’s method fits the previous incidents. They’re going through unlocked vehicles and taking loose change, power chargers, sunglasses, and other small items,” Hart said.
Hart has advised residents to lock doors and to refrain from storing valuables in vehicles.
Anyone with information is asked to call The Saline Police Department at 429-7911.
