An armed suspect who ran from police after a traffic stop Thursday is no longer believed to be in Lodi Township.

At 1:30 p.m. Thursday a trooper from the Michigan State Police First District Hometown Security Team attempted to stop a vehicle on Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Pittsfield Township. According to the news release issued by the Michigan State Police, the armed suspect exited the vehicle behind a strip mall at Oak Valley Drive and Waters Road and ran away.

Police and dogs could not track and locate the subject. Police say they know but are not releasing the man’s identity at this time.

Yesterday the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office warned people to stay away from the subject, who was described as a 25-year-old black male, wearing black clothing. Police said he appeared distraught and panicked and warned people to act as if he was armed and dangerous.

A heavy police presence remained in the area most of the day.
