The Saline Area Fire Department hosts its annual Firehouse Chicken dinner Saturday at noon during Summerfest.

For $9, customers will receive a buttery half chicken, cole slaw donated by Mac's, baked beans from Busch's, a roll from Benny's and a bag of chips.

Firefighters will barbecue the chicken on the giant grill made by former Deputy Chief Charles Schaible.

Customers can order their chicken in the trailer at Summerfest, near the music stage, where they can purchase beverages and watch the entertainment. Or they can drive up on Michigan Avenue and stop, near Benny's, where helpers will take orders and bring them back to the vehicle.

Proceeds from this year's event will help the fire department purchase a grass rig.
