Pittsfield police have released more information about the Sunday evening collision that sent three people to area hospitals.
Around 8 p.m. a vehicle was westbound on Michigan Avenue, just east of Industrial Drive, when the driver lost control on the snow-covered road and went into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was struck by an east-bound vehicle, according to Pittsfield Police Lt. Brandon Williams.
The driver and passenger in the westbound vehicle were transported by Huron Valley Ambulance to Michigan Medicine’s University Hospital. One patient was in critical condition and the other in stable condition according to Matt Rose, spokesperson for Emergent Health Partners. The person in the east-bound vehicle was transported by Huron Valley Ambulance to St. Joe’s Emergency Room in Ypsilanti, Rose said.
Firefighters from Pittsfield Township used hydraulic tools to extricate a person pinned in one of the vehicles, which had gone off the road and rolled down a hill. Michigan Avenue was closed in both directions for a period of time.
