Saline Girls Take Second at SEC Jamboree

Senior Jessi Larson finished second in the SEC Jamboree Tuesday.

Saline’s varsity girls cross country team opened the SEC Red season with a solid second place finish at the jamboree held Tuesday at Hudson Mills Metropark.

The Hornets finished with 57-points, 11 behind the winners from Pioneer.

Pioneer was led by Anne Forsyth, who won the race in 17:46.6. The five scoring Pioneers all finished in the top 20.

Saline was led by senior Jessi Larson, who finished second in 19:04.4. Saline’s scoring five finished in the top 24.

Junior Kayla Fortino also finished in the top 10, taking sixth in 19:27.7.

Rebecca Cantrell (15th, 19:57.6), Nicole Dillman (21st, 20:09) and Ella Woelke (24th, 20:21.3) also finished in the scoring for Saline.

The Saline junior varsity team won its race handily, finishing with 18 points – just three points shy of the perfect victory.

Sophomore Katelyn Szanfranski won the event in 20:56.9. Jenna Allmen was second in 21:09. Also scoring for Saline were Abigail Wilson (4th, 21:30), Katherine Weeden (5th, 21:53) and Chloe Lang (6th, 22:00).
