As part of a district-wide effort to promote a positive social, emotional and mental health environment in school, Heritage School has distributed "Foundation Cards" to all staff and is in the process of making sure all parents receive one as well. The cards explain the foundations of positive mental and social health, with items such as showing empathy, displaying optimism, regulating emotions, and making healthy, informed decisions.

To explain how those principles can be put into practice, staff and teachers made a video about four and half minutes long giving examples of how to build these social and emotional skills. The video is available on YouTube or on the Heritage School Facebook page.
