The Saline Area Schools district hired a troop of new teachers before the start of the school year.
The Saline Post continues to introduce you to the district's new teachers.
Today we meet Heather Theisen, who is no stranger at all to the community.
What you teach: 2nd Grade
Where you teach: Pleasant Ridge Elementary
Hometown: Saline, MI :)
From what university did you graduate? Michigan State University
Describe your previous teaching or career experience: I student taught in a 5th grade classroom in Walled Lake, last year. This is my first year teaching!
Why did you decide on teaching as a profession? Through instructing dance classes, I realized that teaching was something I truly loved and wanted to pursue!
Why did you choose your specific area/subject? I have always had a passion for teaching young students. I felt that by specializing in elementary education, I would be able to make a large impact on the lives of my students at an early age.
Describe a satisfying moment on the job: That "ah-ha" moment when all the stress and hard work comes together, and you see the sense-making happening for your students!
Who was your favorite or most influential teacher? This is tough! I have had so many wonderful, impactful teachers over the years. I would say that every teacher I've had has taught me something that's truly stuck with me.
How do you like to spend your time away from class? Reading, spending time outdoors, teaching fitness classes, and relaxing with family and friends.
What’s your impression of Saline Area Schools since accepting the position? Community is an understatement! I am so blessed and proud to be apart of such an amazing district.
