A Saline Mom & Health Teacher Explains Why She Supports Proposed Sex Education Curriculum

Monday night at 6 p.m. at Liberty School, Saline Area Schools hosts the first of two forums on proposed changes to sex education curriculum for Saline High School students.

One of the changes is to have part of the curriculum delivered by trained students through a program provided by Planned Parenthood. The second change involves adding a module on lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and transsexual youth.

The proposed curriculum has been met with some opposition and much discussion.

Many are interested to learn how similar programs have worked in Dexter and Ann Arbor Public Schools. Saline resident Anne Bezeau is a mom to two children in Saline Schools and a teacher of health education at a high school in Ann Arbor. Here's what she said:
