The Saline varsity girls basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 59-53 to host Bedford in a game that went to overtime, Tuesday.
Bedford outscored Saline, 11-5, in the extra period.
The Hornets spent the first half playing catch-up after Bedford jumped to a 16-7 lead. Saline made up most of that difference in a third quarter during which they outscored Bedford, 18-9. The Hornets entered the fourth quarter down by a point and outscored Bedford, 11-10, to send the game to overtime.
Ella Stemmer led the Hornets with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Steffi Bentley scored 12 points and had eight rebounds. Amera Boyd (seven points, five rebounds and five steals) and Liz Sekerak (six points) also contributed points.
In the junior varsity contest, Saline defeated Bedford 52-23.
Ella Dean (13 points) and Taylor Kangas (11) points reached double figures in points.
