MONROE -- Ella Stemmer scored 27 points as Saline defeated Monroe, 66-54, on the road Wednesday.
Saline built a 17-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Hornets expanded their lead to 35-19 at halftime.
Stemmer had six rebounds to go along with her points.
Liz Sekerak (12 points, four rebounds) and Steffi Bentley (11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks) also reached double figures in points. Nicole Sweetland (five points, six rebounds and two assists), Amera Boyd (five points, five rebounds and three steals), Maddy Welch (four points and five rebounds) and Emily Wilczynski (two points) also contributed to the attack.
The Hornets improved to 12-4 overall and 5-4 in the SEC Red. Saline wraps up its SEC Red season Friday night at home to Adrian. Tip off is 5:30 p.m.
