The Saline varsity softball team swept up a doubleheader, 11-2 and 14-3, at Pioneer to open the SEC season Monday.
Senior Emily Baldus started and won the opener, scattering six hits and a walk while striking out one.
Amanda Enners (4-for-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI) and Brooke Bauer (3-for-5, 2B, HR, 4 RBI) led the attack. Kelsey Alexander also had three hits. Lindsay Rittenhouse and Ashley Heren each had two hits, including a double.
Alexa Pace started the second game. She pitched 5-innings in the game that was shortened because of the mercy rule. She allowed three runs on four hits and a walk. She struck out two.
Enners went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and 2 RBI. Alexander went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Pace, Heren and Olivia Darmos each had two hits. Pace drove in two runs and Heren drove in three.
The Saline defense turned a 6-4-5 double play.
The Hornets improved to 5-0.
