Dexter defeated Saline 13-7 as the Hornets' water polo season opened in a tournament at Ann Arbor Pioneer Friday.

Kyle Nouhan, the all-region pole vaulter, scored five goals in the Hornets' loss. Andrew Brown also scored for Saline.

Saline struck first with Nouhan scored on a penalty shot midway through the first quarter. Dexter scored two goals in 19 seconds to take a 2-1 lead. With 2:58 to play in the quarter, Brown scored on a penalty shot to tie the game. The Dreadnaughts took over with three goals to finish the quarter. 

Dexter opened the second quarter with two more goals before Mitch Gatsche scored for Saline.

Nouhan scored four of his five goals in the second half.

Connor Carlson made several great stops for Saline.
