The Saline girls basketball team can make history with the first regional title in program history at Dexter High School tonight. But there won't be many fans in the seats to see it because of efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The MHSAA announced Thursday morning that attendance is restricted for tonight's contest between Saline and Brighton, which tips off at 7 p.m. This morning's announcement also covers other sports, including Gymnastics. There are are two Hornets competing in the gymnastics finals this weekend.

Yesterday, the MHSAA announced spectators will be banned from the boys' swim and dive finals. Saline competes at Oakland University Friday and Saturday.

According to Saline Area Schools, only 50 spectators will be permitted to attend.

MHSAA activities scheduled for March 12-14 will carry on as scheduled.

If the Hornets advance, the quarterfinal is scheduled for 7 p.m., March 17, at Calvin University.

The MHSAA will have an announcement about future games on Monday.
