One of Saline High School's greatest student athletes was recognized at last Friday’s football game.
Jessica Ping attended Saline High School from 1989 to 1993. During those four years she played four years of varsity basketball, four years of varsity volleyball, three years of varsity track and field and one season of varsity softball.
She finished her basketball career as the all-time leader in free throws made and was the second all-time leading scorer.
In her senior year she led the volleyball team to a 25-5-5 record. In track and field she competed in the 100 and 200-yard dash races and the long jump.
In 1993 she was named “best all around athlete” by The Ann Arbor News.
Ping managed all this while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average and participating in FHA and student council.
After high school Ping played volleyball in college at the Division 1 and Division II level. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and went into sales.
Ping served the Saline area on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners for many years.
