Saline Boys XC Takes 3rd at Portage

Josh Cook was the third fastest Hornet, taking 24th place.

Saline’s varsity cross country team finished third in the Portage Invite, held Saturday at Portage West Middle School. Saline finished with 136 points, behind Pioneer (88) and Romeo (123).

The Hornets were led by senior Anthony DeKraker, who was ninth in 16:08. Jevin Nishioka was 16th in 16:23. Joshua Cook placed 24th in 16:37. Simon Pfeiffer (41st, 16:53) and Aidan Delfuoco (46th, 16:57) rounded out the scoring for Saline. William Minnette (83rd, 17:26) also ran varsity.

In the middle school 2,500-meter race, Saline was eighth with 311 points. Jason Whitton was the fastest Hornet, finishing 45th in 9:08. The Saline sixth grade team took fourth. Truman Johnson was 16th in 10:12.
