Seniors Molly Pribble, Catherine Loftus, Stephanie Schick and Sydney Page started the girls' golf season in record-breaking form Wednesday. The foursome scored a 298 - breaking the old Saline record by an incredible 21 shots. Loftus tied the individual school record of 67.

This year’s Saline varsity girls golf team entered the season with great promise and potential. On day one, they lived up to every inch of it at the Traverse City Invitational Wednesday..

Senior Catherine Loftus, an all-state golfer last year, tied the all-time Saline girls golf scoring record by shooting a career-low 67 and the Saline team scored 298 – beating the old record by an incredible 21 shots.

Senior Molly Pribble shot a career-low 73 and senior Stephanie Schick fired a career-best 79. Sydney Page, also a senior, scored a 79. Gabi Solis shot a 103.

The top four scores account for the team’s scoring.

Coach Debbie Williams-Hoak was thrilled by the way her team came out of the gate.

“All five of these girls are seniors and they have worked so had throughout their career and to get their senior year started off in this fashion is so very special,” she said. “I can't put into words how happy I am for them and it is a coach’s dream to see the team have success and be so happy. They are so deserving."

The Hornets will try to follow up on their historic start tomorrow on the second day of play at Traverse City.
