Ryan Nichols, shown here against Bedford, scored 3 goals to lead Saline past Lincoln Monday.

The Saline varsity soccer team opened the post season Monday with an 8-0 victory over host Ypsilanti Lincoln.

Ryan Nichols recorded the rare hat trick – scoring three goals to lead Saline. Charlie Rogers scored twice. Mitch Kalitta, Eric Kent and Zeke Grey also scored for Saline.

Sam Herner posted the shut out in goal.

Pioneer defeated Belleville in the other district game.

Saline will face Pioneer at Skyline at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Saline defeated Pioneer, 2-0, when the two teams played at Pioneer on Sept. 6. But the Pioneers rebounded to tie Saline when the teams met Oct. 4.

The winner will play in the district championship game Saturday afternoon.
