TENNIS: Saline Defeats Skyline and Monroe, Still Undefeated in SEC Red

Saline kept its SEC Red title hopes alive with two more wins Thursday at Saline High School.

Saline picked up a 5-3 victory over Skyline and a 7-1 victory over Monroe.

Saline remains undefeated in the SEC Red, the only blemish being a 4-4 tie with Huron.

Against Monroe, Saline won all but one doubles match, which was forfeited.

In singles play, Andrea Teofilovic defeated Bella Hutchinson, 6-0 and 6-0. Madison Caldwell defeated Anna Cusamano, 6-1 and 6-0. Carly Heiner defeated Charlize Meyerchance, 6-0 and 6-0. Jenny Wolf won her match by forfeit.

In doubles, Megan Foley and Saige Jost defeated Lauren Reaume and Anna Traver, 6-0 and 6-0. Claire Weadock and Ashlyn Murphey defeated Madysen Hardy and Darby Klemz, 6-0 and 6-1. And Hannah Zetterholm and Ailen Lao defeated Jenna Hammond and Izzy Petrangelo, 6-0 and 6-0.

Saline’s battle with Skyline was tougher. Saline split its singles matches and took three out of four in doubles.

Teofilovic and Jenny Wolf won their matches in singles.

In doubles, Zoe Ellsworth and Aly Heider won, 6-3 and 6-2. Foley and Jost won 7-5 and 6-0. Lindsey Barba and Brooke Englehardt won their match, too.

It was the first time in years Saline defeated Skyline.
