The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

According to the warning, thunderstorms producing heavy rain dropped up to 2.5 inches of rain and flooding is expected to begin shortly. Saline, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti are among many locations expected to experience flooding. 

Another 1 to 3 inches of rain may fall this evening. The warning is in effect until 10:45 p.m.

The warning cited potential flooding on freeways. People are advised "turn around, don't drown" when encountering flooding.
