Saline Opens Rec Center as Cooling Station

With temperatures soaring into the mid-90s and a heat index expected over 100 degrees, the City of Saline has declared the Saline Rec Center as a cooling station.

Here are some places Saline residents can go to escape the heat.

  • Saline Rec Center - 1866 Woodland Drive. Open until 10 p.m. Friday. Open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. People seeking relief from the heat are welcome to come into the Recreation Center and relax in the lobby area.  There are also water bottle filling stations available in the lobby.

  • Saline Police Department Lobby - 100 N. Harris. Although not officially a cooling station, residents in need of relief can use the lobby, the fountain and public restrooms.

  • Saline District Library - 555 N. Maple Road. Open 10 a.m. to 5 on Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The library is air conditioned and residents may bring their devices and use the public wifi.

  • Emagine Saline - 1335 E. Michigan Ave. - Catch a matinee for $6. Featured movies include Jurassic World, Sicario, Uncle Drew, Tag, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Mission Impossible - Fallout, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
