Senior Lady Hornets Face off in Last Dual Meet of the Season

Hannah Cummings and Gloria Park lead the Hornets on the track in the 800 Tuesday.

As the season draws to a close, the Lady Hornets are fighting for the SEC Championship title. Tuesday they beat Monroe 124-13 and Bedford 114-23. The seniors showed great performances and managed to place in the top ten in almost every event.

Alexa Ross dominated the competition in the 200 by taking first with a time of 25.75. She also helped secure a second place spot for the 4x200 relay team.

Janell Green placed fifth in the 100 (13.28). Alana Hollis placed sixth.

Carrie Theisen was seventh in the 100 hurdles in 19.14.

Kennedy Beazley finished second in the 1600 (5:08.01).

Olivia Roe was third in the 300 hurdles (50.68). Kaitlyn Mulligan took eighth.

Abby Rentschler placed first in the 3200 with a time of 11:55.82. Haleigh Cummings and Taelor Young followed next.

The Hornets showed a lot of promise with their freshmen team members. Hailey Mayes won the 400 with a time of 1:00.44 and Lisa Gross was seventh (1:03.11). Hannah Fischer also finished fourth in the 800 in 2:28.31.

Over in the field events, Lauren Sayre helped the team out with a win in the high jump (5-00) and a fifth place finish in the long jump (14-11).

Amelia Wittig was first in the discus with a throw of 107-10. Erin Connor took third.

Wendy Szuminski placed first in the pole vault (10-06). Allie Haugen was second.

The varsity women will compete next in the SEC meet this Friday in Ypsilanti.
