The Lady Hornets varsity basketball team kept its foot on the gas until the final buzzer in a 39-12 win over host Adrian Thursday night.
Melissa Needham led the Hornets with 13 points, nine steals and five rebounds. Caitlin Ellis scored nine points and grabbed six boards. Alana Hollis and Amanda Zylstra each had four points for Saline.
Saline scored led 15-5 after the first quarter and outscored Adrian in each of the second, third and fourth quarters.
"We pressured them defensively and we were able to force a lot of turnovers," Saline coach Jeff Waltz said. "We were fortunate enough to be able to capitalize on their mistakes, because we turned the ball over quite a bit ourselves. Improving our half-court offense is going to have to be a focus of ours moving forward."
The Hornets won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Adrian 38-15. Tori MacNeil also had four rebounds for Saline.
Saline improved to 2-1. The Lady Hornets host Milan Tuesday night.
