An end of season run through downtown Saline has long been a tradition for the Saline Middle School Cross Country team. But last year an important new addition was made to that tradition.
Coach Cindy Barnett and Dr. Dave Sharp, of New Era Chiropractic, worked together to organize a massive drop of toys in the Toys for Tots box at New Era Chiropractic (137 E. Michigan Ave.). Each student athlete was encouraged to purchase a new, unwrapped toy and carry it with them on the season's final run with New Era Chiropractic as the destination. The energetic middle schoolers filed through the chiropractic office and filled the donation box twice.
"We have always thought it important to give back to the community and the Toys for Tots drive is one of the more exciting benefits that we do each year. Seeing these students excited to be giving to others was truly touching. They helped make a lot of Christmas mornings brighter," said Dr. Sharp.
This years run is scheduled for Dec. 13. Runners are expected to arrive at New Era Chiropractic at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Dr Sharp is inviting anyone who needs a little more holiday spirit to stop by and witness the event.
