Summer is officially here. It's time for some weekend fun.

Here's a guide to the fun in and around Saline.


Saline Farmers Market

When: 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday.

Where: Parking lot on the west side of South Ann Arbor Street.

Why: Get fresh fruits, veggies, meats, cheese and baked goods from local farmers and vendors. 

Cost: No cost to enter.


122nd Saline Alumni Banquet

When: 5:30 p.m. social hour, 6:30 p.m. dinner, Saturday.

Where: Liberty School cafeteria

Why: Once a Hornet, always a Hornet. Meet up with the old friends. The class of 63 is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Cost: $15 (Reservations were required by June 14).


Visit the Rentschler Farm Museum

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday.

Where: 1265 E Michigan Ave.

Why: Get a taste of Old Saline. Walk through the blooming garden. Visit with the Rentschler Farm's animals.

Cost: Free (Donations accepted.)


Saline Area Players 40th Anniversary Gala

When: 8 p.m., Saturday

Where: Liberty School auditorium

Why: Come watch our community's actors in an on-stage reunion, as they retell the local community theater company's productions through the ages.

Cost: $10 (includes Mac's afterglow party).


The Rev. Robert Jones and Sister Bernice Jones @ Mangiamo's

When: 7:30 p.m., Sunday

Where: Upstairs at Mangiamo Italian Grill, 107 W. Michigan Ave.

Why: Acoustic Routes presents Detroit's master storyteller and champion of folk, blues, spirituals, and American roots music.

Cost: $10 cover.
