City of Saline planners will consider requests from new businesses when the planning commission meets at City Hall at 7 p.m., Wednesday.

Dan Roughton is seeking a special land use permit for a new sports training facility at 1201 Industrial Drive – the same building that is home to Fastenal and Delirium Fitness.

Roughton’s business will be geared toward soccer training and agility training for all athletes. It would be open afternoons and evenings on weekdays and by appointment on weekends. City staff has recommended approval of the special land use permit with the caveat that parking space lighting be improved.

Britni James is seeking a special use permit to install a daycare and preschool in the UAW offices at 601 Woodland Drive East. The child care center would occupy 1,450 square feet of the 9,424-square-foot facility. There would also be a fenced, outdoor 1,600-square-foot play area. City staff recommends approval pending, with two conditions, including background checks for new employees, and a final site and building inspection.

City planners will also consider the adoption of an ordinance to prohibit marijuana establishments.
